I’m concerned to learn that my anarcho-capitalist friend who is all about the perfection of the free market and how perfect the world would be without government, has apparently never heard the term “neoliberalism” before and doesn’t know what it means. How much can he really know about Capitalism?
whelp, heart is broken. I was so excited for the West Coast Night Vale live shows, and both the Seattle and Portland shows sold out within like 2 hours of having gone on sale. D:

I do too! Unfortunately, much as I loved it that trip has some bad connotations for me. I was with there with a girlfriend who I was head-over-heals in love with who broke up with me like a week later. Kind of spoils the memory just a bit.
But otherwise Berlin is fucking awesome. Good beer. Good Turkish food. Amazing Museums. And in general its just a really pretty city. I’d love to go back.
I love the sound of the train in the distance. When people first move here most of them can’t stand it but it’s one of the little sensations I missed most about living here. Glad I’m back.
I was sitting next to a woman on the airplane into Spokane yesterday, and when she hears I’m a Poli Sci major she starts asking me what I think of Obama and “isn’t he such a socialist.” I kind of begged off, saying that I thought he was pretty moderate and left it at that. I’ve been regretting that ever since. I feel like I should have challenged her conceptions head on, I should have asked her which of his particular policies she thought was socialist. I assume her answer would have been obamacare and if that were the case I’d point out that it was a republican plan in the first place. does that mean republicans are socialist too? It uses private insurers. The most socialist part is the medicaid expansion. Is medicaid socialism? Is medicare? is social security? Whether they are or aren’t does she want to get rid of those programs?
Ugh, I really wish relationships were simpler.
My first day moved into student housing. Instead of socializing and meeting my new dorm mates, I’m sitting alone in my room, listening to Muse, drinking a green apple Jones Soda, and reading Hitler’s Empire by Mark Mazower… It’s pretty good so far.
